Geographic Variation in Health Care Utilization

Geographic variation in health care utilization is a complex and controversial topic, with various studies reporting widely different amounts of variation, and presenting arguments why conflicting approaches are incorrect.  To shed some light on this issue the Foundation asked Gretchen Nye, a graduate student at George Washington University, to prepare a paper surveying the literature on the subject and presenting a summary of the results, and the arguments and the issues involved.
