The Jayne Koskinas Ted Giovanis Foundation for Health and Policy (JKTG Foundation) funds cancer research, policy projects and events that foster collaboration and public discussion to improve the quality, effectiveness and experience of the care patients receive.

DRIVING RESEARCH

"We take a different approach to research and work with people who ask questions science and medicine haven’t yet answered. Many research projects only get support when the answer is largely known, and that is a disservice to us all, especially those diagnosed with and fighting breast cancer. We’re not afraid to try new things and ask questions we don't know the answers to."

GIOVANIS INSTITUTE AT JOHN HOPKINS

Ted Giovanis created the Giovanis Institute for Translational Cell Biology at Johns Hopkins with a $35M, 15-year gift to help researchers learn how cancer spreads and how to stop it more.

Cancer is the second leading cause of death in the U.S., and some estimate that roughly two-thirds of cancer deaths are linked to its spread, or metastasis. The GI Institute focuses on promoting innovation by identifying cellular strategies, developing countermeasures to prevent metastasis and collaborating across disciplines like biology, engineering, and machine learning. "Collaboration empowers new thinking to transform cancer diagnosis and treatment," said Giovanis.

JKTG FOUNDATION RESEARCHERS

Researchers supported by the Jayne Koskinas Ted Giovanis Foundation for Health and Policy challenge the status quo, bringing a multidisciplinary approach to cancer research. We are not interested in cultivating “tried and true.” We are interested in bold ideas, and these are some of the researchers whose work we’ve supported.
